WHAT IS JH78?
JH78 is a Bible-believing junior high ministry for 7th & 8th graders at North Coast Church in Vista, CA. The ministry has been pastored by Travis Sybert for over 25 years. Our purpose is to make disciples of Jesus in a fun and healthy environment. We want nothing more than for our students to love God and love others. Click here for our statement of faith.
WHEN DOES JH78 MEET?
Tuesday Night Live (TNL): Our midweek youth group happens every Tuesday night from 7-9pm. Our youth group is unique because we actually split up into four separate youth groups: 7th Grade Girls, 7th Grade Guys, 8th Grade Girls and 8th Grade Guys. We call them midgroups. Each midgroup has a director that oversees the night. They have their own culture, play their own game and discuss their own tailored Bible curriculum created by our staff in small groups. Then, we al meet up at the end of the night for full band worship that plays relevant, modern songs.
Weekends: We also meet every single weekend on Saturdays at 5pm and Sundays at 9am and 11am. We always hangout in community before and after service, play a fun game, worship through song and hear a 30 minute, Bible-centered message from our staff.
Events: JH78 sometimes themes or adds on to TNL for an awesome event. However, we periodically meet other days throughout the year for fun events. Some of these events you may have heard of are Starving to Serve, The Overnighter and our camps Adventure Whitewater and Camp United.
Travis Sybert has been on staff at JH78 for over 25 years, and has been the lead pastor for 20 of them. He has a heart to see students fall in love with Jesus and aims for every student, know matter their background, social group or life experiences, to find a place in Christian community.
He has been married to his wife, Jessica, for 23 years and has three kids: Jonathan (18), Parker (16) and Emma (13). He has had the amazing privilege to be his kids’ junior high pastor.
Travis is a huge sports fan, rooting on the Padres, Chargers, Lakers and, of course, UCLA.
